Those who voice their opinion against the new government seem to currently be preoccupied with this Sula Shirza alcohol case!
1. They accuse President Nasheed of drinking some alcoholic drink with an exotic name (Sula Shirza) at a press gathering during his state visit to India. Now, I’m not here to defend Nasheed and say that he will never drink. I don’t know whether he drinks or not; but anyone with a sane mind will know that even if Nasheed were a drinker he would not drink at a press gathering, in front of the foreign press, during a high profile state visit.
2. Now let’s take an example of a committee of ten people having a conversation around a table. Later, one of them goes away and tells somebody that, over a cup of tea, he and the other members of the committee had a discussion. This does not mean that all members of the committee had tea. Some could have had coffee or even coca cola. But the person who conveyed the story could have been having tea. The fact of the matter is that however “foolish” or “incompetent” President Nasheed maybe, he would not drink at a press gathering, in front of the foreign press, during a high profile state visit. It just doesn’t make any sense. This is just some storm in a teacup created by the DRP sympathizers and people such as Umar Naseer who are clutching at straws in order to discredit the government.
recommend president nasheed to sue that idiotic reporter who wrote an article which could mislead the public as well as our beloved presidents popularity, i in strongest terms condemn the writer and his iresponsible writing. ( which this moron umar naseer blushing, umar naseer votes = baathil vote, so better be in your size umar) if it was a country like any other umar naseer would not be able to give a chance to bluff in tv channels cause we know he's not in any caliber to be in politics rather he would have been a trained submarine pilot
ReplyDeletemr mulla umar said that he will not compete in the up coming elections,neither compete for presidency,then what are you fighting for, i urge elections commission to change there regulations to parties that does not have 3000 members to be banned,i think this guy is personally jealous with the current president, and it seems that this guy is copying what anni has done,just compete to get a seat from male,then only people will believe in you...why didnt you demonstrate like this when gayyey was in power... some thing fishy is going on..

Moreover, desire alone does not bring down dictatorship. Citizens must have courage, courage that defies and ends the deprivation of freedoms and rights, courage that overcomes the instruments of fear, terror, and intimidation employed by dictatorships, and courage that breaks the psychological servitude to dictatorship. so umar please be thankful to our president nasheed who helped us all to come over from 30years of fear " may allah bless mohamed nasheed in bringing right democracy for the people of maldives" thank you

Also it's interesting to witness the man suddenly has got this courage that he was never able to garner whilst Gayyooms government was in full force.

A politician (from Greek "polis") is an individual who is involved in influencing public decision making through the influence of politcs or a person who influences the way a society is governed through an understanding of political power and group dynamics.
I have personally known Umar since we were in grade 7 in EPS back in 1983 he does not posess any of the above qualities, he still is very narrow minded, stubborn and has this attitude of my way or the highway.
With this sort of approach I'm sure he's not going to go anywhere.

ReplyDeleteI was in that party with President Nasheed. To the surprise of all of you, there was no Shula Shiraz. We were asked before we were served and we all told them pure orange juice. It was poured to us from a different glass container. All the reporters were asked about the choice of drinks and I don't think anything alcoholic were served to anyone due to the International protocol not offend a state visitor and his religion.
